A final court hearing was due later this month, in which it would be decided which party could continue to use the name, and how much compensation they’d pay the other party.

Asked about whether the dispute will go back for court, Tate tells 98.7 The Gater: “I hope it doesn’t. We’re in settlement talks right now. I’m kind of hoping it will all be settled by the end of the month.”

He refuses to be drawn on how he thinks it will end but says: “Either way it’s in my favour. I’m just waiting for the paperwork to dry.”

Original line-up drummer Scott Rockenfield recently said: “Negotiations are ongoing – there’s still time for anything to happen. We feel good and look at it as light at the end of the tunnel. The right decision will be made in time.”

Q: What is the ultimate goal of the court proceedings? Do you want to get the original line-up of Queensrÿche back together or do you want to win the name and continue with this band?

GT: "Right now, we have two Queensrÿches, which is way too confusing to fans. We have to give someone the name and someone has to pay the other person off. We're in settlement talks now, and I hope that we can come to a conclusion in the next couple of weeks."

Q: Do you have an update on when we can expect a resolution on the dual versions of the band?

Wilton: "That’s coming up. What I can say is that both sides have reached an amicable settlement and it’s now just a matter of time. There will be an official press release but for now, you’ll have to wait."

In a recent interview with James Wood at the Allentown Music Examiner, QUEENSRŸCHE guitarist Michael Wilton touched on the court case with former vocalist Geoff Tate over rights to the band name, saying that "both sides have reached an amicable settlement."

An official statement has yet to be issued by either side regarding the final outcome, but Tate's official website (found here) now features the banner Geoff Tate: The Voice Of Queensrÿche. In addition, his site include a link at the top of the front page directing fans to "Queensrÿche Without Geoff Tate", leading to the Todd La Torre-fronted incarnation of the band here.
